Using VoiceThread in D2L Brightspace: Part 1- non-graded uses

This is for people who use VoiceThread in Brightspace. In this hands-on workshop, you will get to practice creating the two basic non-graded links: VT Home and Individual VT. We will review examples of non-graded uses like lecture delivery, discussion boards, class introductions, syllabus review, and virtual office hours.

Thinking Out Loud with VoiceThread: Assessment That Can't Be Faked

In this workshop, we'll explore how VoiceThread can bring some of the best parts of an oral exam into an asynchronous, scalable format. Faculty are turning to oral assessment to get beyond AI-generated work and hear how students actually think. The challenges are time and scale. With VoiceThread, students can record themselves working through a problem, explaining their thinking, and responding to follow-up questions from peers or instructors.

Using VoiceThread in D2L Brightspace: Part 2- Graded Assignments and Rubrics

This is for people who use VoiceThread in Brightspace. In this hands-on workshop, you will get to practice creating assignments through VoiceThread's Assignment Builder. We will work on the new "Stacked Assignments", along with the standard Create and Comment assignments. You will see how students submit assignments, and we will review the Instructor's grading interface, including the new rubric interface.

VoiceThread Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Participants will learn how VoiceThread can help educators provide multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression for their courses. We will review all of VoiceThread's accessibility features, including: closed captioning, automatic alt-text, video comments for ASL, and more.

What to expect

All workshops are interactive or hands-on

Sessions run about an hour with time built in for questions. They're recorded, so if you register and can't make it live, you'll get the recording. You don't need a VoiceThread account to attend, but if you do, you can participate in the hands-on portions.
